Quick-install clothes rod-If you need a clothes rod in the laundry room and you have exposed joists, check out this simple, solid and fast way to get it. Attach some 3/4 in J-hooks (these are used for hanging pipe) to the joists and snap a 7/8 in dowel rod in the curve.
Garage organizer-Cut an old hose into 7-in. Pieces, slit them, and nail them to the wall to make good holders for handled tools in the garage.
Rack for canned goods-Use those leftover closet racks as cabinet organizers. Trim the racks to length with a hacksaw and them mount screws to the back side of the face frame to hold the racks in place. The back of the rack simply rests against the back of the cabinet. Now you can easily find soup and check the rest of the inventory at a glance.
Lid Leash-Tired of losing your garbage can lid because the wind blew it away, or because it skittered away when you tried to knock it off when you hands were full of trash? Dill a small hole just below the rim of the can, and another near the center of the lid. Then thread a 24-in. length of rope through the holes, and knot the ends as shown. The lid will always be right there when you go to put it back.
2-Minute tool rack-One way to get rid of clutter in your storage shed or garage is to screw 16-in scrap 2x4s at a slight upward angle to each side of the wall stud. They will hold a wide variety of yard tools.l
No-tip garbage cans-There really is a simple way to keep those garbage can from getting blown or knocked over. For each garbage can, all you need are two 3/4-in screw eyes and a 30-in. hook-end elastic cord from the hardware store.
Razor holder-Keep your razor from falling into the tub with this simple holder. Cut a 3-in. length of 1-in. PVC pipe with a handsaw. Cut two 1/8 in. wide notches in the pipe. Strap the pipe to your wire shower caddy with two plastic zip ties hooked in the notches. Drop the razor into the pipe: the blade will catch the edges of the pipe, keeping the razor off the floor.
